Bunk and loft beds we manufacture
Our bunk bed range includes twin-over-twin bunk beds, bunk beds with a slide, with a study desk or with drawers, and loft beds with a slide, desk or stairs. Beds are built in solid wood or engineered wood panels, with the material stated for each model, in natural, honey, white and grey finishes.
Every bed ships knock-down: rails, ladder, guardrails and slats are packed flat with a hardware pack and assembly instructions.
What the US and Australian bunk bed rules require
- United States (16 CFR 1513): a bunk bed is any bed whose mattress foundation sits more than 30 inches above the floor. The upper bunk needs at least two guardrails, with rail tops at least 5 inches above the mattress top, and the openings in the bed ends are tested with a wedge block and a 9-inch sphere.
- Australia: a mandatory standard based on AS/NZS 4220 applies to stacked bunk beds and to any single bed whose mattress base is more than 800 mm above the floor. It requires permanent guardrails on all four sides, at least 260 mm above the top of the mattress base, and limits gaps and protrusions.
- New Zealand: bunk beds are not in the mandatory product safety standards, so general consumer law applies. AS/NZS 4220 is the joint Australian and New Zealand standard, so confirm with your testing lab which reference your buyers expect.
The two rules use different units and test methods, so a single design is checked against both sets of dimensions before sampling. Labels, warnings and instructions are market-specific.
Bunk bed standards by market
- United States: ASTM F1427 as adopted in 16 CFR 1513, with lead in paint to 16 CFR 1303 under CPSIA.
- Australia and New Zealand: AS/NZS 4220, which our bunk beds are designed to.
- EU: EN 747.
Standards were checked in October 2026. Regulations change, so confirm the requirements for your exact product with your testing lab or compliance consultant.
Test reports for our bunk beds
We hold two Intertek Vietnam reports from 2022 for our bunk beds, ASTM F1427-21 / 16 CFR 1303 / CPSIA and 16 CFR 1213 / 1513, both with a PASS result. A report applies to the model that was tested, and a changed design is tested again. Customer names and product codes are masked in the copies we publish.
